Every hunt tells a story. This is where you write it down.
The Backcountry Pocket Journal is built for the hunter or outdoorsman who takes the field seriously. Not a notepad. Not a generic journal. A purpose-built field companion packed with the reference knowledge you actually need — and the space to document every moment worth remembering.
Pocket-sized and built to be carried — in your pack, your bino harness, your truck console, or your camp tote. It's not a notebook you leave on the shelf. It's a working tool that gets filled.
What's inside:
- Hunt & scouting logs — record sign, movement, conditions, and encounters from every trip
- Harvest log — document the details and preserve the story behind the animal
- Navigation & route planning pages
- First aid quick-reference
- Essential knots for field and camp use
- Track & scat ID guide
- Blood tracking best practices
- Blank pages — tell the story your way
Built for one trip. One season. One chapter.
Most people dedicate one journal per hunt or per season. That way everything from that trip — your logs, your notes, your observations — stays in one place. Stack them on the shelf and watch your time in the field add up.
Hunting with a partner? Heading out more than once this season? Grab two or three.

I really enjoy my Backcountry Pocket Journey. I’m a novice out door enthusiast and hiker and it gives me more confidence when venturing in to nature. You often cannot rely on your cell phone in the backcountry so having an essential guide to survival, wildlife tracks, and knot tying feels like a vital tool to pack. It’s small and lightweight so easy to store in a pocket for easy access. I wouldn’t leave for a backpacking/camping trip without it.
This is exactly why we made it! When cell service fails, you need something you can actually count on. Love hearing it gives you more confidence out there — that's the whole goal. Thanks for bringing it along on your adventures!
Very cute. I bought three for my son and two for his friends.
That's so thoughtful — hope they love them out in the field! Thanks for the support!
Nice addition to my go bag
That's exactly where it belongs! Thanks for the support.
The Backcountry Pocket Journal is defiantly a useful item to add to any hunting or outdoor adventure kit. Good reading for just killing time or the information may save your life. I love to keep notes on all types of thing and the journal gives me the ability to do this. Don't buy one of these! Buy two, three or even four! You will not regret it. I would also like to add that they have unbeatable customer service and that's hard to find these days!
This made our day — thank you! Love the enthusiasm and the pitch at the end, you're doing our marketing for us! Really appreciate the kind words about customer service too. That means a lot to a small brand. See you out there Steve!
Very cool. It does have a great deal of good information for the outdoors. Fast shipping.
Glad it hit the mark! And fast shipping is always the goal. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review!
Awesome
Thanks, Norman! Appreciate the support.
Mostly blank pages. Minimal information.
Thanks for the feedback. The journal is designed with a mix of reference content (survival, navigation, knots, wildlife tracks, etc.) and blank pages for your own notes and logging — but we hear you that the balance didn't feel right for what you were looking for. If you'd like, reach out to us directly and we're happy to help.
I was a bit skeptical when I first saw this, but having used the Journal out in the field it has become a valuable resource. The diagrams printed in the journal are very handy fingertip information. Plenty of blank pages for personal notes or expounding on the pillars of fire shelter.water and navigation. I don't Leave home without this anymore. Definitely worth having!
This means a lot — thank you! Love that it won over a skeptic. 'Don't leave home without it' is exactly the reaction we're going for. Appreciate you taking the time to share!
This is something i will definitely enjoy when im out in nature
That's what it's there for! Hope it comes in handy out there — thanks for the support!
I haven't put pen to paper, yet. However, I like what I received. My only input would be to add just enough ruled pages at the front, so the printed, informational pages began at the middle, where the staples are.
Glad you like it! Good news — that's actually already how it's laid out! The lined pages run through the front half, with the printed reference content starting right at the center staple. Hope you enjoy it once you get out there!
This is a great resource for hikers in case they get stuck somewhere. A wealth of information in a easy to carry compact book
Thank you so much! That's exactly what we built it for — all the info you need, without the bulk. Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review!
This journal is amazing! Has all of the information you need, no matter where you are you can apply what this journal has to offer. Hunters alike no matter the pursuit should have this on hand!
This made our day — thank you! That's exactly the goal: a go-to resource no matter the season or the pursuit. We appreciate the support!
This turned out to be a great purchase. Tons of great, reliable information in a journal that occupies only a modest amount of space in my pack.
The pages that display how to tie common knots proved to be critical one morning during a duck hunt where I was forced to rig my equipment skiff to my kayak without using my customary carabiner, which had broken off and fell into freezing water. I’m no Eagle Scout, so the knot guide bailed me out of a potentially frustrating situation.
I’d recommend for any outdoorsman to carry this journal in the field.
Love this! A duck hunt knot emergency is exactly the kind of situation we had in mind when putting this together. Glad the knot guide came through when it counted. Thanks for the kind words and for taking it into the field!
I purchased one for myself and my young nephews. They’re starting to get into fishing, so this is the perfect size to keep right in the tackle box. The guides are great for showing them how to tie on their own hooks. It’s simple and packed with a bunch of good information to keep on hand.
That's awesome — getting the next generation out on the water is what it's all about! Love that it found a home in the tackle box. Hope those nephews are tying their own hooks in no time. Thanks for sharing!
Very disappointed in what it actually is. Only one page for a harvest report on the last page.
Thank you for the feedback! The Backcountry Pocket Journal is designed to be dedicated to one specific hunt or adventure — that way everything from that trip lives in one place. Many of our customers keep one per season or per hunt as a keepsake. That said, we appreciate you sharing this and will look at ways to make that clearer going forward!
It is a hit for the family
That means everything to us — thank you! We built the Backcountry Pocket Journal to be something the whole crew could appreciate in the field. So glad it's been a hit with your family! 🏔️
